What impact will propagation of electric vehicles have on the power grid?
There are supposed to be one million electric vehicles on Germany's roads by 2020. This goal also has consequences for the energy business because if a large percentage of cars will be equipped with an electric drive in the future, then these new power consumers need to be integrated into an intelligent power grid in a sensible way. Otherwise, electric vehicles can become a great burden on the power grid. An intelligent integration of electric vehicles into the power grid can contribute to increasing grid stability and also contribute to climate protection and to a sustainable energy policy, among other things. For this purpose, concepts for controlled charging of electric vehicles and feeding electricity back into the grid are being developed and tested. The same goes for a standardized access to charging infrastructure.
