Is the German government sticking to its goal that there will be at least one million electric vehicles on Germany's roads by 2020?

One million vehicles by 2020 is an ambitious goal – one that the German government adheres to. One million electric vehicles are only a small share of the market, less than 5 percent of the vehicles in Germany. Nonetheless, it will take additional measures and effort to achieve that goal. Policy makers, industry and those in scientific research will energetically implement them during the coming years. That includes continuting support for research and development work such as in the BMUB program "renewable mobile." Additionally, the federal government has decided to further push the sale of electric vehicles with an additional environmental bonus starting in July 2016. That is supposed to boost demand for electric vehicles to at least 300,000.
